My Story

As a transracial adoptee growing up, identity always felt nuanced. It was important for me to have a clear sense of who I was, what my values were, and who I wanted to be. The road was not always easy, but it helped me develop a clear sense of purpose. This purpose has drawn me to the field of mental health so that I can support individuals with developing their own identity and explore their purpose in life. Whether you are a teenager or an adult, we are always evolving our sense of self. This may be impacted by anxiety, depression, grief and loss, or life transitions. What I have found is the relationship we have with ourselves and our past, can influence the relationships we have with others. It can impact how we feel about school or our careers. By using psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, and a strength-based approach, I can help you to understand past experiences differently and help you to navigate symptoms of trauma, anxiety, or depression.

I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelors in Psychology in 2010 and University of San Diego in 2015 with a Masters in Marital and Family therapy. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Over the past 10 years I have worked in community based programs and private practice with children, teenagers, and adults. In these settings, I have supported individuals and families of different cultural backgrounds as well as LGBTQ+ individuals and families. I have worked with adoptees and adoptive parents, as well those in foster care. I have experience with those who are in trauma recovery, managing anxiety and/or depression, those who may be grieving losses, or who are navigating life transitions. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
